The National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) is a central database for student aid information — both Pell Grants and federally guaranteed loans — compiled and maintained by the U.S. Department of Education. It provides 24/7 access.

What is available to me through the NSLDS Student Access Web site?

Information on federal grant amounts, federally guaranteed loans, outstanding balances, loan statuses, and disbursements.  You will not see any loans you have taken out privately.

What information do I need to use the NSLDS Student Access Web site?

Your Social Security number (SSN), the first two letters of your last name, your date of birth, and your Personal Identification Number (PIN). Your PIN is provided on your student aid report (SAR); you may also request a PIN at Federal Student Aid PIN Web site.
